An application to fight against sexual violence and street harassment now available at the City of Brussels
App-Elles® is an application that is designed to save time for people who feel or find themselves in a situation of insecurity in order to make it easier for them to find information and contacts that can be useful and beneficial to them in a situation of distress, danger or emergency. App-Elles® allows you to quickly alert and contact your loved ones, who can track your position and geolocate you while continuing to talk to you and hear everything that is happening around you. The application also allows you to call for emergency services, associations and all the professional help available in a territory. The mobile app also allows for recording and compiling evidence.
App-Elles® is available worldwide. The application already centralises and relays local information and national systems from more than 13 countries. A new tab dedicated to the City of Brussels now allows its citizens and visitors to quickly find help nearby in the event of sexual violence and street harassment. A broader map of all the professionals and assistance available in the Brussels-Capital Region is also referenced. The mobile application aims to meet the main needs of assistance and support victims and witnesses confronted with a situation of present, past or potential violence might need. The City's communication campaign on the App-Elles® application is part of the work already being carried out by the City to combat sexual violence and street harassment, in particular through its 'Nothing without my consent' action plan, which includes 77 measures to specifically combat sexist harassment at parties and at night.
