Data gathered by community guards
The City's peacekeeping service (coordinated by BRAVVO, prevention service of the City of Brussels) ensures the prevention of nuisances within neighborhoods, particularly in terms of monitoring public spaces and monitoring neighborhood problems. The problems that the 8 teams face are very varied: damage to street furniture, illegal deposits, complaints from residents, neighborhood conflicts, referral to more specialized services, etc.
A “tailor-made” software was deployed in 2021 (replacing the old software) to facilitate coding tasks, tracking problems and procedures, relaying between teams, etc. When the peacekeepers notices a problem and at the end of his tour, he encodes the observation (the program then makes proposals to him).
The report can thus be located and completed during the interventions of the following teams or even be sent directly via messages to the competent services (and possibly to Fix my street). A reporting function allows to establish statistics and measure developments. In 2022, 17,000 incidents and malfunctions of all types were encoded by agents in the new software. The identification of these problems is computerized to improve the procedure, reduce errors and encoding tasks, facilitate the follow-up of problems and improve the service to citizens regarding the monitoring of nuisances.
