Winners of the Smart City 2016 call for projects

At the end of March 2016, the City of Brussels launched its first call for projects entitled "Brussels, smart city”. From the applications received, six have been selected and awarded € 5,000 in financial support to turn their projects into reality. Listed below are the successful projects:

Parking spot for people with reduced mobility

L’institut belge pour la sécurité routière (VIAS, formerly IBSR): the aim is to equip spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility (PRM) with intelligent sensors. Thanks to the development of a mobile app, PRMs will be able to easily locate free spaces and use them to park their vehicles. An initial pilot phase will involve a study of around twenty parking spaces located near tourist areas.

Raconte-moi BXL : supported by the city's public education department, this project aims to create a digital book based on a narrative and illustrations produced by schoolchildren. On the one hand, the project allows us to question the relationship that children and teenagers have with their city. It also encourages innovative thinking about the impact of technology on teaching practices.
