Winners of the Smart City 2018 call for projects
Following the success of the first edition, the City of Brussels has launched a second call for Smart City projects. From the applications received, seven have been selected and awarded financial support from the City to turn their projects into reality. Listed below are the successful projects:
Sprl Thingsplay : Setting up a register of outdoor air quality in the streets of Brussels. The sensor box will measure temperature, humidity and the rate of 2.5 and 10 micron micro-particles in 50 strategic areas in Brussels, and will be displayed in real-time on a map of Brussels.
Asbl Globe Aroma : ICT training + purchase of computers and software for new arrivals and refugees with artistic ambitions to manage their work online as well as the creation of digital works of art.
Asbl Arts & Publics : Organisation of amateur video game creation workshops on the subject of global warming.
Asbl Molenbike with their CoopCycle platform: unlike the well-known home delivery platforms, CoopCycle is open source software that can only be used by social enterprises.
Wessel Kooijman (independent) : PitchInBrussels is a monthly event where anyone can pitch their idea for five minutes and discuss its relevance with the public (it is important to foster collective intelligence in a smart city).
Digital Leadership Institute : The aim of the "MESS" project is to create a platform dedicated to concert-goers in Brussels. A community will be created through the gamification of the platform and the mobile app. The app will help music lovers to find a concert in Brussels that matches their musical taste as well as recommending an eclectic range concerts. It will also provide geopositioning and ticket price information.
Asbl Cyloperativa : Creation of a communications tool to highlight the ever-increasing cycling trend in Brussels as an efficient, sustainable and user-friendly means of mobility.
